Medcare Press Release: The Truth of a Media Lynching Revealed

Like all of you, we saw the press article about the health complications of a patient who chose us to perform her surgeries. This article was the starting point for a media lynching that continues to this day. First of all, please know that the health of everyone who chooses to use our services is extremely important to us. We systematically monitor our patients and stay in touch with them even after they leave Tunisia. This is also the case for the patient mentioned in the article. We exchanged messages with her, followed the recommendations of the surgeon who performed the operation, and regularly asked for her news.

We only learned about the difficulties she encountered on the plane when we read the article, because she did inform us by message the day after her arrival in Quebec that she had arrived safely and never told us about her alarming mishap during her return flight.
During the 3 days following her arrival in Quebec, the patient sent us photos of the progress of her healing, which we forwarded to the surgeon so that he could advise her and inform her of the next steps. He also explained to her that it was imperative to consult a doctor if the discharge continued at the same intensity. We also offered to visit her at the hospital when she was admitted but she told us she was in isolation due to COVID and we tried to call her several times throughout May (with supporting evidence).

To say that we did not contact her at all does not seem very honest to us.

We take our work very seriously because patients entrust their lives to us, and there is no way we can take that lightly. This fictitious narrative, which portrays us as a low-cost service provider that abandons patients once they return to Canada, is absolutely scandalous. We are still trying to contact the patient to continue supporting her, but all our attempts have been unsuccessful. However, we cannot remain silent in the face of this shameful smear campaign, which twists the facts to portray Medcare Vacances as an agency that does not take care of its patients. It even goes so far as to present the patient's free and informed consent document as a waiver to absolve itself of responsibility in the event of problems. Post-operative complications can happen to anyone, anywhere in the world, but we do not shirk our responsibilities. You trust us with your health and well-being, and there's no way we won't support you until the end. Please be assured that we're deeply touched by this patient's case and, despite everything, we're still willing to offer her our help and support. However, we do not tolerate defamation under any circumstances. During this difficult time, we would like to thank the many people who have used our services and who are contacting us today to offer their unwavering support. We also thank those who, through their stories, are trying to restore the truth.
