Buttock implants, also called buttock prostheses, aim to add volume to the buttocks and give them a rounded and shapely form.
Indeed, evolving beauty standards mean that a woman with a rounded buttocks is considered more seductive and attractive. Exercise and bodybuilding alone cannot achieve the desired results for a slim woman with flat buttocks.
The main factor in people with flat buttocks is their body shape, or significant weight loss can result in sagging buttocks. In these cases, the ideal solution to round out your buttocks and give them volume is the placement of buttock implants.
To generally achieve a uniform result with shapes that meet beauty standards, it is necessary to combine the placement of a prosthesis with another procedure, in particular liposuction or lipofilling.
What exactly is a buttock implant?
The buttock implant is a cohesive silicone gel prosthesis designed for the buttocks. Used for nearly 40 years, it has benefited from the latest technological advances to become more secure and provide a more harmonious and natural result. The loss of fluidity of the silicone gel, for example, now means it can no longer be released into the buttocks in the event of a ruptured implant.
There are several shapes of buttock implants: round, biconvex, oval, or anatomical, but the shape most patients opt for is the biconvex shape. Implants also come in different volumes, ranging from 300 cc to 570 cc. The choice of shape and volume is, of course, made according to the patient's expectations.

What are the benefits of buttock implants?
Having flat buttocks can be a source of discomfort for some. Buttock implants sculpt the buttocks for a more shapely and rounded result. Some patients may opt for buttock lipofilling, but this requires a sufficient fat reserve in the body to perform the procedure, which is not the case for all patients.
Liposuction or lipofilling can, however, be performed in addition to the placement of buttock implants in order to reshape the contour of the buttocks, in particular by hollowing out the lower back, removing the saddlebags or filling the hollow of the lateral side of the buttock for a more convex shape.
It's important to know that with buttock implants, there's no loss of volume over time. The lifespan of buttock implants is on average between 10 and 20 years. Regular monitoring every 5 years is necessary to detect any potential rupture.
How are buttock implants fitted?
As with any cosmetic surgery procedure, two consultations with the plastic surgeon are necessary before the operation, as well as a consultation with the anesthesiologist.
Each patient is given a period of reflection before the procedure.
It is necessary to stop smoking, aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs one month before the operation.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and lasts between 1 and 30 hours.
The implants are inserted into the buttocks through an incision made in the cleft between the buttocks. They are placed within the thickness of the gluteus maximus muscle. This technique provides good stability for the implant while camouflaging its contours to ensure a natural appearance.
A Redon drain is also placed at the level of each gluteal implant, in order to avoid the risk of hematomas.
After buttock implants
Depending on the pain experienced, hospitalization lasts 1 to 2 nights. Strong painkillers may be prescribed for the first two postoperative days.
For the first 8 days after surgery, sitting is prohibited. It is recommended to alternate between lying on your stomach, on your sides, and standing. For the first 3 weeks, you should sit on your lower buttocks or upper thighs.
Nursing care is important during this initial period around the scar. The goal is to avoid any risk of detachment, as the intergluteal cleft is an area where healing is fragile. Compression stockings are worn, and anticoagulant medication is administered for the first two weeks.
Obviously the pain will be forgotten once the result is visible.
Resumption of professional activities is possible 12 days after the operation and physical activities can be resumed 6 weeks after the operation.
Result
The result is definitely visible 2 to 3 months after the placement of the buttock implants, the time it takes for the buttocks to soften and the prostheses to stabilize.
